PHASE ONE of OASIS by element, a multi-phased master-planned community that leads the Township of Langley’s vision for high density development with four 20-storey highrises and three 4-8 storey residences in a mixed used retail/commercial environment. In 2015, for its intergenerational aging-in-place concept, OASIS won a Globals Award over 950 retirement living projects worldwide.

On January 15, 2018 the project successfully passed First and Second Readings.
The Public Hearing took place on January 29, 2018 with strong embrace for Element’s intergenerational aging-in-place vision.
On Monday, February 5, 2018, Mayor and Council voted at Third Reading to approve the OASIS project rezoning, and Development Permit on the first tower – the first highrise within our development, and the first within the Township of Langley!

The next steps are technical processes to arrive at Fourth Reading (enactment of rezoning).

The Housing Agreement on the first tower will require one resident within each suite to be aged 55+, but will permit younger family members to reside together for support and companionship. (This is inconsistent with the Langley Times article below, but has now been confirmed in writing by the Township’s Development and Planning department.)

The Public Hearing on this project was featured in the Langley Times on January 30, as follows:
